Railway Recruitment Boards are organizations under the Government of India that manage the appointment of new employees for the post of various Section Engineers Civil and Non Civil, Assistant loco pilot (ALP), assistant station master(ASM), Goods guard, Trackman, Group D posts, Constable RPF, Sub Inpector RPF, Technician Gr-III, NTPC (Graduate) , Commercial Apprentice , Traffic Apprentice , Senior Clerk-cum-Typist to work in Indian railways.

Brief of Selection Procedure

RRB calls for eligible applicants through wide publicity in "Employment News" (A publication of the Government of India) and other national/state/local newspapers. The employment notification is also uploaded on the official web sites of RRBs.
The applications are generally invited online. They have to upload requisite documents and pay fee (wherever applicable). The eligible candidates are called for a written examination with call letters being uploaded in advance of the date of the examination. Examinations are now mostly held as ‘Computer Based Test (CBT)’- routinely called ‘Online exam’. There is no interview after the written examination. In some categories, there will be a ‘Second stage written examination’. In the categories related to operational safety, the successful candidates of final written exams will be called for a psychological/aptitude test.
The application details furnished by successful candidates are verified and they are called for scrutiny of original documents i.e. Document Verification (DV).
The selection process is based on merit and is subject to the rules and regulations issued by the Ministry of Railways (Railway Board), Government of India which includes reservation of jobs for certain castes/communities, such as Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC/NCL). Persons with Disability (PwD) and Ex-servicemen are also entitled for reservation as per the rules.
